In this course, you’ll build a clear understanding of how to recognise, prevent and respond to discrimination, bullying and harassment in a range of settings. You’ll explore the different forms these behaviours can take, including direct and indirect discrimination, verbal abuse, exclusion, intimidation and harassment, and learn how to identify warning signs early. You’ll develop confidence in taking appropriate action—from responding safely in the moment to following reporting procedures and seeking support from the right people and services. The course also emphasises the importance of creating respectful, inclusive environments and your role in challenging unfair behaviour. By the end, you’ll be better equipped to protect yourself and others, apply practical strategies in real situations, and contribute positively to a culture where everyone feels valued, respected and supported.

Learning outcomes

By completing this package, learners can:

Define and recognise key terms and examples of discrimination, bullying and harassment in a range of workplace or learning scenarios.
Explain the differences between direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, bullying and harassment, including how these behaviours can affect individuals and groups.
Apply appropriate first-response actions when witnessing or experiencing discriminatory, bullying or harassing behaviour, including reporting through the correct channels.
Analyse case studies to categorise different forms of discriminatory or bullying behaviour and identify the factors that contributed to each incident.
Assess the effectiveness of different support mechanisms, such as managers, human resources, safeguarding leads or external support services, in responding to reported incidents.
Develop a personal action plan for preventing discrimination, bullying and harassment and promoting a respectful, inclusive environment.
